I Know Where I’m Going! (Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger, 1945, 35mm, 92 mins)

New print! An ambitious young Englishwoman en route to marry a rich industrialist is waylaid by weather on a Scottish island…along with a handsome naval officer. Crashing waves, ceilidh dances, and castle ruins are the backdrop for this celebration of enchanting chance encounters. “One of the greatest (and sadly most forgotten) romantic comedies ever” (Jake Hamilton) and Tilda Swinton’s all-time favorite film! 35mm print from the Yale Film Archive.

The Treasures from the Yale Film Archive series is presented with support from Paul L. Joskow ‘70 M.Phil., ‘72 Ph.D.

Yale Film Archive screenings are always free and open to the public. See the full film schedule here.
